McAllen - Blas Ortiz, 93, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital of McAllen. Blas was born February 3, 1923 in Mexico. He is the son of the late Tomas and the late Florentina Ortiz.
He is survived by his wife: Raquel (Abrego) Ortiz; three children: Ricardo Ortiz, Mercedes Rodriguez and Florentina Castillo; 9 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday, August 24, 2016 with a rosary being recited at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 25, 2016 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church of McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. www.riverafuneralhomes.net
