Demetrio Duarte Obituary

Falfurrias - Demetrio Duarte, 81, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 18, 2015 at his residence in Falfurrias, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father: Santos Duarte; mother: Manuela Orozco; daughters: Delma Jean Duarte and Esmerilda Johnson and granddaughter: Gianna Doonkeen.

Demetrio is survived by his wife: Mydia Lopez Duarte; siblings: Cristelia "Chela" Ortiz, Maria Luisa "Licha" Perales, Enrique "Henry" Duarte, Juan "Johnny" Duarte and Janie Dicken; his children: Demetrio Duarte, Jr. (Araceli), Denise Doonkeen and Darrell Duarte (Melissa); grandchildren: Delisi Friday, Dominique Gonzalez, Damaris Duarte, Drew Duarte, Gage Doonkeen and Gerad Doonkeen; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed. Known as a man of his word who commanded respect, Demetrio Duarte worked in the trucking industry for most of his life and taught his children the value of an education, hard work, a love of God and the importance of family.

A Rosary and Viewing will be held at 9:00 am Friday, May 22, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 2201 Martin in McAllen. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. www.riverafuneralhomes.net
