Gloria Vela Hinojosa

Gloria Vela Hinojosa, age 92, entered into eternal rest on May 13, 2018 at her home in McAllen, surrounded by her loving children, Gloria Hinojosa Kubitschek, Heron Homero Hinojosa, and Dr. Lucila Hinojosa. Gloria Hinojosa is survived by her 3 children and Grandchildren, Ronald Lee Hinojosa, Gina Lennell Hinojosa Chapa, Anna Marie Kubitschek and Thomas Anton Kubitschek as well as a sister, Evelia Vela Arambula.

She was born in Benavides, Texas on March 6, 1926 and raised in Parás, Nuevo Leon. She married Juan C. Hinojosa, Jr on September 10, 1951 and was a McAllen resident from 1955 to present.

Gloria was an active parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in McAllen for 62 years where she attended daily mass and was a Eucharistic minister that served Eucharist to parishioners when they were in the hospital and in nursing homes. She was also active in Las Damas Catolicas and always ready to help friends and neighbors when they needed her.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Tuesday. May 15, 2018 at Rivera Funeral Home,1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church in McAllen. Interment will follow to Roselawn cemetery in McAllen.
