Matias Juarez, born April 25, 1952, in McAllen, Texas passed away at the age of 66 on July 6, 2018. Matias is survived by his children: Guadalupe, Matias Jr. and Benito; siblings: Juan, Ramon, Mario and Juanita; and multiple grandchildren. He is preceded by his parents: Guadalupe and Gregoria Juarez; his brother: Guadalupe Jr,; and his son: Edgar.
Matias enlisted in the United States Army and served his country proudly in the Vietnam War. He returned to his hometown of McAllen, TX and worked in the US Postal Service the majority of his life. Matias enjoyed grilling outdoors, watching action movies, working on cars, and Tejano music. He was always ready to help a friend in need and he had the amazing ability to make anyone laugh. Most of all, he will be remembered as a beloved father.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen with full military honors under the auspices of VFW post 8788 of McAllen.
