Nazario A. Escochea, 95, was called home to rest with our Lord on December 30, 2017. He was born on July 19, 1922 in Kingsville, Texas to Nazario and Leonarda Escochea. He is preceded in death by his parents, and all his siblings; Irene, Ruben, Sofia, and Esther.
Nazario was a resident of Weslaco, Texas until 1971 when he and his family moved to McAllen, Texas. He retired after working at Brown Express freight lines for 30 years. After his retirement, Mr. Escochea enjoyed traveling occasionally, and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Escochea will be profoundly missed by his wife with whom he shared 76 years of marriage; Mrs. Dolores C. Escochea, his son Nazario (Dalia) Escochea, his daughter Hilda (Armando) Salinas.
Nazario was a loving grandfather to his seven grandchidlren; Ida Linda Escochea, Rebecca Elixson, Eduardo (Heather) Escochea, Delma (Jeffrey) Williams, Ricardo (Cristie) Escochea, Delilah (Juan) Garcia and Laura Lisa Salinas. He had numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and his Sunday afternoon bingo friends.
Visitation will take place on Monday January 1, 2018 at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday January 2, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Prepetual Help church in McAllen. Burial will follow to Valley Memorial Gardens cemetery in Mission.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen.
