Olegario Hinojosa

MISSION - Olegario Hinojosa peacefully went to be with Our Lord and Savior Tuesday morning August 18, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Olegario was born on March 6, 1922 in Camargo, Mexico to the late Jose Hinojosa and Juanita Garza. He is preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Velia Hinojosa; and 9 siblings.

He is survived by his daughters: Juana Cortez, Maria G. Perez and Nora E. Hinojosa Rivera; his loving sister: Ignacia Hinojosa de Falcon; grandchildren: Robert Perez, Jr., Jose Cortez, Krystal Alexxia, Aaron Daniel and Andrew Jacob Rivera; 7 great-grandchildren; Maddy, Ian and Emma who brought great joy to their beloved "Pappa" as well as Amber, Noah, Caleb and baby Cortez.

Olegario was a very giving loving and generous man who loved to share his stories and knowledge with all those he knew. Before retiring, he worked most of his life with The Hidalgo County Water District #14 and later The County of Hidalgo Pct 3. He loved to spend his free time on the ranch hunting with his grandsons, nephew, JR Hinojosa, other family members and friends.

He was a devoted family man and faithful friend to all those who knew him. He will be greatly missed and will live forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday, August 19, 2015 with a Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Due to rain services were postponed and visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Rivera Funeral Home, 1813 N. Conway Ave. in Mission. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 24, 2015 at St, John of the Fields Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.
