McAllen - Irene Elizabeth Rodriguez, 54, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family on Saturday February 16, 2019 at the Amara Hospice Facility in Edinburg. Lisa, as she was lovingly known by her family and friends was born on October 1, 1964 in Weslaco, Texas to Rene and Hortencia (Presas) Cuellar. She was raised in Mercedes and she was very active in school activities being a cheerleader in junior high and a member of the Debonairs at Mercedes High School where she graduated Class of 1983. Lisa enjoyed traveling, being with family and friends and being involved with Holy Spirit Church, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She had a passion for teaching and obtained her BA in teaching from UT Pan Am. Lisa was involved with many schools throughout the McAllen School District. She truly enjoyed her life to the fullest.
Lisa was preceded in death by her mother: Hortencia Howell; father-in-law: Gonzalo Rodriguez; aunt: Josefina Barela; uncles: Robert and Samuel Presas; and maternal grandparents: Samuel and Irene Presas.
Left to cherish Lisa's memory is her loving husband: Mr. David Rodriguez; her daughter: Missy Garcia; her brothers: Charles and Michael Howell; her father: Rene Cuellar; extended family: Daniel Presas, Abel (Mary) Presas, Jaine (Enrique) Curiel, Margarita Franco, Rudy (Cathy) Presas, Olga Presas, Rosemary Gamez, Virginia (Eugene) Garcia and Jean (Fernando) Flores; sister-in-law: Kathy (Javier) Masso; brothers-in-laws: Edward Rodriguez and Michael Rodriguez; mother-in-law: Rita Rodriguez; her loving dogs: Daisy and Sam.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Rivera Funeral Home from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the recital of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 10:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Services will concluded immediately following the funeral mass. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
