Karen Rankin Obituary

Our beloved Karen (Karrie) Lee Rankin has gone home to be with the Lord on November 22, 2019, peacefully in her sleep of a progressive pulmonary fibrosis disease. She’s now pain free and with her loved ones and all her dogs she rescued that went before her. She has left her mother, Arline M. Rankin, her sisters, Jill Benedict, Wendy (Marcel) Vidovic, Amy (Chris) Labye and Laura Voss, her love of 10 years Sean C. Barnard, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her Father: William Edward Rankin and her Grandparents.  She will be so missed by all. Please join us in celebrating her life by sharing your words on her tribute wall, that would mean so much. Karrie had an incredible love for animals, especially rescue dogs and cats. She once saved a wolf out of a trap and it ran off after looking into her eyes as if to say thank you. At one time she had 6 dogs, a cat and a turtle living with her. That truly was her great joy, saving animals. She worked as an animal rights activist and was a big part of Wolf conservation Center, Pawboost Alert, Oceans Conservancy, and Care2, just to name a few. Karrie's other passions included cooking and painting. She was also an avid jewelry maker using healing crystals and exotic stones. She graduated in Texas as a Physical Therapist Assistant and enjoyed her profession immensely. She lived in Texas and Arizona since she was 20 years old. Karrie really enjoyed working with children and helping them out. She dressed up for them at Halloween taking great pleasure in their reactions. They love her! Karrie was also an Independent Distributor for "It Works" for several years enjoying new friendships and the freedom as her own CEO. Karrie’s wishes were to be cremated. Should you wish to honor her love of animals, please send a donation to nywolf.org or texashuskyrescue.org
