Maria Magdalena Ortiz ,75, surrounded by her family entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 5, 2019. Maria was born on July 22, 1943 in McAllen to Ernesto and Josefa (Sotelo) Salas. Born and raised in McAllen Maria worked at the McAllen General Hospital for 12 years. Maria enjoyed and loved being with family spending and cherishing time with family. Maria loved to travel, dance and listen to all kinds of music. Maria Magdalena Ortiz truly lived her life to its fullest. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of family and those that came to know her.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents; Her two sons- Armando and Alonso Ortiz; Her brother-Felix Salas.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years Mr. Enrique Ortiz; her children; Adrian, Alicia, Agustin, Abel, Arturo, Angel Ortiz; Siblings- Esiquio, Perfecto, Quirino, Martin, Robert Salas, Isidra Garcia, Ignacia Salas, Juana Fonseca, Ascension Salas, Eloisa Guerrero; 13 grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. 

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd, in McAllen from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a celebration of life service at 6:30 PM followed by the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:30 PM. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. 

The Ortiz family will like to invite everyone for a gathering at Wingate by Wyndam Hotel , 1500 Wichita Ave. in McAllen. from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Burial of moms ashes will take place at 3:00 PM at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen.
