Alberto "Robert" Contreras

Mr. Alberto "Robert" Contreras, 58, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 11, 2018 surrounded by his family at his Houston home. Robert, as he was lovingly known by is family and friends, was born on December 23, 1959 in McAllen, Texas to Arnulfo and Guadalupe Contreras. Robert lived in Houston for the past 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends barbecuing, watching the Houston Texans and Houston Astros and he enjoyed watching Nascar Racing. Robert enjoyed his life to it's fullest.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Olga Contreras; his father: Arnulfo; a brother: Rene and a sister: Maria Del Socorro Peña.

Left to cherish Robert's memory are his children: Noe (Kristy) Contreras, Jose Jesus (Melissa) Vega, David (Corina) Vega, Robert (Yvett) Vega; siblings: Juan A. (Gladys) Contreras, Arnulfo Contreras, Dolores C. (Jose) Rodriguez, Aurora D. Galvan, Maria Elena (Alex) Barreiro, Maria Guadalupe (Joe) Ramos, Lucy (David) Peña, His mother Mrs. Guadalupe Contreras, ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Bobby Vega, Daniel Vega, David Vega, Jr., Jose Vega, III, Elias Galvan and Eliu Galvan.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00 pm followed by the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
