Elvira L. Rios,74, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. Elvira was born on October 7, 1943 in McAllen, Texas to Francisco and Juanita Liscano. Elvira was a long time resident of McAllen. Elvira was extremely active in her community, participating and being involved in city,state,and National elections. Elvira was currently President of the local LULAC district #20.
Elvira enjoyed spending time with family and friends at all types of gatherings. She loved to travel, which was her specialty. Elvira enjoyed numerous of other things. Elvira truly enjoyed life to its fullest.
Elvira was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ruben A. Rios, a grandson Ezekiel Fermin Serna; two siblings-Graciano Liscano and Hilda Lopez.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Ruben Rios,Jr. and his wife Aida Rios from McAllen, Linda Garcia and her husband Rogelio Garcia from Pharr, Rogelio Rios and his wife Rose Mary Rios of McAllen, AnaLiza Rios of McAllen; her loving grandchildren; Monica M. Leon and (Edward), Christina M. Rios and (Charlene), Victoria Rios, Justin Garcia, Rogelio Rios Jr. and (Amanda), Andrew Flores and (Siuly Lian), Elizabeth Rios, Matthew Flores, Jesse Garcia; one great grandson Nathan Leon; Siblings-Beto Liscano, Alicia Molina, Fina Moreno, Ernestina Garcia, Jaime Liscano, Rey Liscano, George Liscano, Rudy Liscano, and Frank Liscano.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Rivera Funeral Home,1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the recital of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 12 PM at the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at La Piedad cemetery in McAllen.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen.
