Honorato Margarito Delgado, 90, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on February 13, 2018, just days short of his 91st birthday. He was born February 22, 1927 to the late Honorato and Juliana Delgado in San Benito, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Lazaro, Lorenzo, and Guadalupe; and his beloved daughter, Minerva ("Minnie") who passed away in 1975.
He is survived by his children: Gabriel, Maria, Jorge, Jose, Benilda, Ruben, Berta, Marta, Patricia, Severina, Jessica, and Kristopher. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; his twin: Julia Aguilar; numerous nephews and nieces; and his family at San Juan Nursing Home, specifically his best friend: Benito Gonzalez.
He and his beloved twin, Julia, were the youngest of five children. Though he was only able to attend school through the seventh grade in order to help his family, he was a very wise man. An entrepreneur at an early age, he did whatever he needed to provide for his family. Honorato was known as "Cuate", but most importantly "Apa" and "Dad" to his 13 children. He always considered himself a rich man, not in wealth, but in the love of family. Honorato became stronger in his faith and his relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in his later years of life. One of his favorite songs at San Juan Nursing Home was "Calles de Oro." As staff and residents sang "Quiero andar las calles de oro con Jesus...", his contribution was always to sing out "con Jesus."
We praise God that our "Apa" and "Dad" is now resting in peace "con Jesus" and celebrating with and hugging Minnie at long last.
