McAllen ~ Alberto Ruben Canales Sr. went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 3, 2021. Alberto Canales was very proud of having served the country that he so loved. He later worked at Johnston Island. This island was used as a test site for atmospheric and extremely high altitude nuclear explosions. He also worked as a used car manager at Clark Chevrolet, had his own Video Arcade Business and worked at the McAllen Half-way house.
He is survived by his children; Son: Alberto R. Canales Jr.; Daughter-in-law: Erica Canales; Granddaughter: Kaitlyn Canales; Daughter: Diane Y. Palomin; Son-in-law: Omar Palomin; Grandsons: Cameron Palomin, Caleb Palomin; Granddaughter: Courtney Palomin; Son: Edward R. Canales; Son: Michael Huerta; Daughter-In-Law: Sandra Huerta; Grandsons; Michael Huerta, Logan Huerta; Granddaughter: Victoria Huerta; Sister-in-law: Rebecca Saenz; Neices: Norma Newman (Tommy Newman); Nephew: Leonel Canales Jr. (Marta Canales); Nephew: David A. Canales (Rozie Canales); Neice: Martha Phillips.
He is preceded in death by: Father: Rufino Canales; Mother: Marta G. Canales; Brother: Raul Z. Canales; Brother: Leonel (Caco) Canales (Esther Canales); Nephew: Danny Canales.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd., McAllen. Chapel Service will be held at 12:30 pm Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Rivera Funeral Home; Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at Rio Grande Valley State Veteran's Cemetery in Mission. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
