McAllen ~ Amando Sanchez Garcia, born to his loving parents Andres and Juanita Sanchez Garcia, was called home by the Lord June 30, 2021.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Angelica R. Garcia of McAllen, daughter Cynthia Mancha husband Robert Mancha of Mission, son Michael Garcia partner Juan Mendoza of McAllen, daughter Deborah Mora husband Christopher Mora of Edinburg, six grandchildren Robert James Mancha, Isabella Marie Mancha, Troy Alexander Champion, Olivia Grace Mora, Anna Mora, Isabella Mora, brothers and sisters Oscar Garcia, wife Celia Garcia, Stella Canales, husband Rene Canales, Esperanza Cremar, husband Mario Cremar. Dora Ortiz, husband Oscar Ortiz. He is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Eloy S. Garcia, Amador Garcia, Uvaldo Garcia, and Ofelia Rivas. Amando was born and raised in Benavides, TX.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Veteran. He served in the United States Army at a young age. Amando later lived in McAllen and worked as a finance manager for many years. He retired and spent the rest of his days in McAllen. Amando loved watching football and spending time with his family. He was an excellent example of strength, courage, and bravery. Amando leaves behind special memories of being a loving spouse and supportive Father. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday, July 5, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 PM with the recital of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen at 9:30 AM with interment to follow to the Rio Grande Valley State Veteran's Cemetery in Mission at 11:00 AM.
