Ana Maria Rojas Obituary

Ana Maria Rojas, a loving, kind, and generous woman, passed away on June 2, 2023, in her hometown of McAllen, Texas. Born on September 24, 1950, in McAllen, Texas, Ana dedicated her life to education and the betterment of others.

Ana was preceded in death by her grandmother Inocencia Gonzalez; mother Elena Serna, step-father Rodolfo Serna, Aunt and Uncle Ramona and Ambrosio Vigil, Aunt Alicia Gonzalez, Uncle Gregorio Gonzalez, and brother-in-law Carl Allen. She is survived by her sister Eva Allen, cousins Heriberto (Emma) Vigil and Dennise Vigil, nieces Ava Allen and Joyce (Darren) Allen, nephews Scotty (Mini) Allen and Carl Allen, great-nieces and great-nephews, and numerous cousins.

Ana grew up in a close-knit family and attended Pan American University, where she studied Education. She went on to have an illustrious career as an elementary school teacher, shaping the minds of young children. Ana taught at Thigpen Elementary and Thigpen-Zavala Elementary for 38 years under the McAllen Independent School District, where she was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2000. Her passion for teaching and commitment to her students left a lasting impact on the community.

Ana's love for education did not stop after her retirement. She continued to stress the importance of reading at an early age and often shared her knowledge with family and friends. Her dedication to the art of teaching remained an integral part of her life, and she never stopped learning.

Ana had a unique appreciation for music and cinema. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and Juan Gabriel, often listening to their tunes in her free time. She also enjoyed watching old Elvis Presley movies, finding comfort and inspiration in the timeless classics. Ana's love for collectors' edition Barbies showcased her playful side and added a touch of whimsy to her home.

Ana will be remembered for her loving, kind, and generous nature. She was a beacon of light in the lives of her family members and friends, providing support and encouragement when it was needed most. Her unwavering commitment to education and the betterment of others will live on through the countless lives she touched during her time on Earth.

Ana Maria Rojas leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and education that will not be forgotten. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the community she so passionately served.

Gathering of family and friends is Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Rivera Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 9:30 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Pharr.
