McAllen ~ Andrea Herrera, 100 years and 3 months old, entered eternal sleep on Saturday, April 30th at Rio Grande Regional Hospital. Tia Adela, as she was kindly known and loved by many, was born January 18th, 1922 in Donna, Texas to Tomas and Maria (Yanez) Herrera.
Tia Adela was a resident of McAllen for over 60 years. She loved working on her garden to work and enjoyed family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Miguel Carballo; her siblings: Tomas Herrera Jr., Lauro Herrera, Jose Aguirre, Maria Concepcion Lomas, and Guadalupe Lopez; and most recently her sister and best friend, Maria Andrews Lord.
Left to cherish her memory are her nephews and niece that she raised as her own: Jorge (Letty) Sanchez, Efrain Jaime (Rosa) Sanchez, Fred (Leti) Sanchez, Lisa Sanchez, and Carlos (Nora) Sanchez; numerous other nieces and nephews; and her sister: Belen Betancourt.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, May 8th, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the rosary to begin at 7:00 PM at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen. Funeral Mass will be Monday, May 8th, 2022, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church of McAllen. Interment will follow to Valley Memorial Garden in Mission. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
