Angelica (Angie) G. Peña
Our mother, Angelica G. Peña, age 85, adoring wife of 61 years to her husband Pablo M. Peña Jr. , and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away in the early evening on Monday, November 14th to be with the Lord. Angelica was born on May 30th 1937 in Allende Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Alberto Guzman and Aurora Rojas Guzman. She grew up in McAllen with her family being the eldest of four girls. She was a loving, caring, and wonderful woman, always giving her time to her loved ones and anyone in the community who needed help; especially through her work at St. Joseph the Worker. Angelica married Pablo in 1961 and started a family of their own having two children, Juan and Aurora. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and patron of the Catholic Church. She shared her love and passion of the Catholic Church working at St. Joseph the Worker as the office secretary for thirty nine years. Angelica was a grandmother to five grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren. Angelica loved to spend her free time around her family and loved ones, going on long walks with her husband and having her coffee in the mornings. She loved to make cornbread, fideo, and toasted tortillas with cheese for her family, along with her famous fruit salad that was so delicious. She was always so excited to make her green bean casserole for Thanksgiving, which is right around the corner and we will miss her there; but she will be at the Greatest Feast of All with our Lord Jesus Christ. She has always been a strong pillar in our family, and loved by so many. Angelica emphasized the importance of keeping the family together and to always show love and generosity, especially to those most in need. She will be missed immensely by her family who adored her with all their hearts.
We know that Angelica is above in heaven looking upon us with her beautiful smile. We are so lucky and grateful to have had such a wonderful and warm hearted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith and lived by it every day. This is not goodbye, but until we meet again in heaven.
She is preceded in death by her parents Aurora Rojas Guzman and Alberto Guzman, and her grandmother Teresita Guzman. She is survived by her loving husband, Pablo M. Peña, Jr., her children, Juan Pablo Peña, Aurora Peña-Ochoa (Rene), and daughter-in-law, Margaret Tracy Sale. Her five grandchildren include Stephanie Renee Peña, Lauren Heather Peña, Audrey Rachelle Gutierrez (Rufino), Mark Anthony Ochoa, and Andrew Rene Ochoa. Her seven great-grandchildren are Heather Destiny Peña, Ethan Andrew Peña, Brandon Trajan Peña, Isaiah James Peña, Olivia Lane Muniz, Alena Brielle Gutierrez, and Julian Rufino Gutierrez. She is also survived by her three loving sisters, Elida (Jose) Ocañas, Flora (Joe) Solis, and Alberta (Raul) Vasquez and several nephews and nieces.
