Anselmo Diaz,Sr.

Mr. Anselmo Diaz,87, passed into eternal rest Sunday, June 21,2020 at his residence in McAllen. Anselmo was born in La Azucar , Mexico on August 11,1932 to Leonardo and Rita (Benavidez) Diaz. Anselmo had lived in McAllen for most of his life. 

Anselmo Diaz was a man who was adored by his entire family. He was an incredible father to his four children. They were raised to be strong and loving just like he was. He spoiled his seven grandchildren with every opportunity he had and made sure they knew that they were loved. He lived a life filled with Christ and that was evident in everything he did, from spending every Sunday morning eating breakfast with his family to going out and drinking coffee with his friends. His life will be reflected in the lives of all his family and friends. His compassion, humor, and light hearted nature is what was felt every time he entered and left a room. We now find peace with the fact that he is truly at home. He lives a heavenly life filled with joy knowing that those he left behind are left with precious memories to hold onto before we all rejoice again. 

Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife Maria Enedelia Diaz; His children- Anselmo Jr. and (Sandra) Diaz, Nelly and (Ruben) Ramirez Jr., Beni and (Angel) Macias, Alex and (Rosalinda) Diaz; His loving grandchildren - Alek Diaz, Bianca Ramirez, Christian Ramirez, Andrew Macias, Valerie Macias, Alessandra Diaz, Andrea Diaz; His great grandson Axel Villegas Diaz, and care provider  Lourdes Zavala. 
A gathering of family and friends will take place Tuesday, June 23,2020 at Rivera Funeral Home,1901 Pecan Blvd in McAllen from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the recital of the Holy Rosary to begin at 6:30 pm. 
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping with social distancing orders, all necessary restrictions will be observed in order to protect the health and safety of those in attendance. Wear face coverings while inside building. Continue to practice social distancing while inside the funeral home chapel. We continue to ask that those at risk or those not feeling well stay home and reach out to the family through our obituary page.
