Mr. Antonio Canales,70, entered eternal sleep Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the Briarcliff Nursing and Rehab Center in McAllen. Antonio was born November 23, 1949 in Harlingen, Texas to Jose and Estela (Cabrera) Canales. Antonio was a long time resident of McAllen. He enjoyed all things outdoors, including walking, yard work, and working on his cars. His love of his family set him aside and the time he spent with his grandchildren was well cherished. Antonio found happiness in the small things, like buying lottery tickets, dancing, playing with his dogs and going to Las Vegas. The respect Antonio had for his in laws and family was above all else. Antonio Canales truly lived life to its fullest.. He will forever be in the hearts of his family and those that came to know him. 

Antonio was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife- Dolores H. Canales; His loving children- Leonel Canales, Michael A. Canales, Eloy (Aurora Silva) Canales; Siblings- Billy Canales, Gregorio Canales; Beloved grandchildren- Tyler J.Canales, Ashley S. Villuendas, Santiago Canales, Samantha N. Canales, Lauren A. Canales, and Nathan Canales.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping with social distancing orders, all necessary restrictions will be observed in order to protect the health and safety of those in attendance. Wear face coverings while inside building. Continue to practice social distancing while inside the funeral home chapel. 

A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Rivera Funeral Home,1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the recital of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. Graveside service will be Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens cemetery in Pharr.
