Obituary

Antonio Perales, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023, in Mcallen, Texas. Known for his selfless, loving, and generous spirit, Antonio was born on November 27, 1948, in Harlingen, Texas, and spent his life making a significant impact on everyone he encountered.

Antonio was a man of many accomplishments. After earning his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Electrical Engineering in June 1973, he went on to have a successful career in his chosen field. He started his journey as a mechanical and electrical engineer, which laid the foundation for his professional life. Antonio's entrepreneurial spirit later led him to become the proud owner of Perales Used Auto Parts, a thriving business that served the community for many years. His leadership skills also shone through during his ten-year tenure as a Supervisor at Mcallen Transportation, where he was admired and respected by his colleagues.

Despite his professional successes, Antonio's greatest joy came from his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Maria D. Perales, and their four children: Chelis, Tony, Karla, and Jenny. His grandchildren—Salma, Isaac, James, Gabe, Sebis, and Chris—were the apple of his eye, and he cherished every moment spent with them. In addition, he is survived by his brother Eduardo, sister Leonarda, four additional siblings, as well as his extended family. Antonio's love for his family was evident in his actions and words, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Beyond his family and work, Antonio had a passion for bringing joy to others. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh, often going out of his way to bring a smile to someone's face. His interests extended beyond his immediate circle, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His generosity and kindness left a lasting impression on those around him, making him a cherished member of his community.

Reflecting on Antonio's life, the words of Maya Angelou ring true: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Antonio had an innate ability to make others feel loved, valued, and important. His selfless love and generosity were not just traits but a way of life that touched and transformed many lives.

Antonio Perales lived a life full of love, laughter, and service to others. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his loved ones and those fortunate enough to have known him. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived, remembering a man who embodied the virtues of kindness, love, and generosity. Antonio's legacy will live on in the lives he touched, in the smiles he brought, and in the love he shared. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched.

Gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 PM at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen.
