Aurora P. Salinas

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Aurora P. Salinas at her residence in La Joya on Wednesday, May 27. Aurora was born in Victoria, Texas on February 11, 1933, raised in McAllen, moved to La Joya in 1953 where she raised her family. She was a devoted, loving wife, mother of 10, grandmother of 15, great-grandmother of 35, great-great grandmother of 3, and a forever friend. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Eduardo "Lalo" Salinas, her sons Eduardo Jr., Fidel (Brenda) Salinas two daughters, Sylvia (John Anthony Chavez), Teenie Weenie, Teresa Orfelinda, and her sister Irene "Nena" Blanco.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her children, Yolanda (Juan D.) Saenz, Juan Carlos (Celinda), Jaime (Cathy), Olga, Melisa (Joel Garza), Leticia, and John Edward (Marybelle) Salinas. She is also survived by her only sister's daughter whom she loved as her own, Ana Batson, and the Zamora's from San Antonio. Throughout her life, God first, and family, she was the ultimate optimist, never met a stranger that didn't become her friend, her door opened to countless. She was a humble woman who had a selfless heart, a strong, graceful spirit and a deep abiding devotion to God. Aurora leaves a legacy of faith, love, strength and resilience that will inspire all who knew her.

"I am always with you. A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me... Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong."

Funeral mass will be Saturday June 6, 2026 at 11:00 at Our Lady Queen of Angels in La Joya with a celebration of life to follow at the church's parish hall. A private interment will take place on a later date.
