Benigno Plata, Jr. Obituary

Benigno Plata Jr., a cherished father, brother, and son, passed away on August 5, 2024, at the age of 48 in Washington, D.C. Born on October 30, 1975, in Harlingen, Texas, Benigno's warm smile and kind heart touched all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on his community and loved ones.

Benigno, affectionately known as "Benny" to friends and family, was a proud graduate of Weslaco High School, where he excelled both academically and socially, leaving behind a legacy of friendships that lasted throughout his life. His thirst for knowledge and passion for business led him to George Washington University, where he graduated with honors in 1998, majoring in business.

Upon completing his education, Benigno embarked on a successful career as a financial advisor with Ameriprise. His sharp intellect, coupled with his innate ability to understand and empathize with his clients, made him a respected figure in the financial industry. He was not only dedicated to his profession but also deeply involved in various associations within his field, contributing his time and expertise to further the success of others.

Family was the cornerstone of Benigno's life. He was a devoted son to his father, Benigno Plata, and held his late mother, Ninfa Plata, close to his heart. He was a loving and doting father to his daughters, Bria and Josie Han, instilling in them the values of kindness and intelligence that he himself epitomized. Benigno's sister, Angela, will remember him as a protective and supportive brother who was always there for her. Benny is also survived by Amanda ( Josie's  mom) and Meagan ( Bria's mom ).

Benigno's interests outside of work were diverse and reflected his love for both the simple and finer things in life. He was an avid golfer, finding peace and challenge on the greens. A true Texan at heart, he never missed a game when it came to his favorite sports teams—the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, and the Houston Astros. Watching the games, he would light up with excitement and camaraderie, sharing these moments with friends and family alike.
