Brian Merritt Obituary
Brian Merritt, 50, of Laverne, Oklahoma, passed away on February 22nd in McAllen, Texas.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Rivera Funeral Home. On Saturday, February 24th, 2017 there will be a viewing at 2 PM with a memorial service to follow at 3 PM.
Brian was born in Laverne, Oklahoma to Jerry Merritt and Gail Uranga on July 2nd, 1966. He met his partner in life, Luis Sottil, on December 1996 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He worked as a vice president for Sottil Studios for twenty years. He was a proud member of the Human Rights Campaign, the Mankind Project, Stonewall Democrats, and the Trevor Project.
Brian is survived by Luis Sottil, his sister Deanne Hammons, his father Jerry, his mother Gail, Brad Hammons, Carrie Allison Hammons, Erin Hammons, and Luke Burgdorf, the Sottil family, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Donations in Brian's honor may be sent to Palm Valley Animal Center and The Trevor Project.
