Carolina Menchaca Gomez

Carolina M. Gomez, 80, of McAllen, Texas, passed away on August 20, 2026.

Born on January 12, 1946, in McAllen, Texas to the late Alonzo and Eloisa Menchaca. Carolina lived a beautiful life centered around the people she loved most—her family. Above all else, she was a devoted wife and mother who gave so much of herself to caring for those around her. To her family, she was truly the best wife and mother they could have ever asked for. Her love was constant, her devotion unwavering, and her family always came first.

As a homemaker, Carolina dedicated her life to creating a loving and welcoming home for her husband and children. As the years passed and her family grew, she embraced the joy of becoming a grandmother. Her greatest happiness could be found in the moments spent surrounded by those she loved. The care she gave, the memories she created, and the love she shared will remain a treasured part of her family’s lives for generations to come.

Carolina is survived by her loving husband, Julio Gomez; her three children, Julio Gomez, Jr. (Emily), Veronica Gomez Quintero (Macario), and Dr. Marissa Gomez-Martinez (Matthew),  six grandchildren and her brother, Noe Menchaca. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Eloisa Menchaca, and her brothers, Alonzo Menchaca, Jr. and Roberto Menchaca.

Carolina leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, and devotion. While her absence will be deeply felt, the love she poured into her family throughout her lifetime will never leave them. She will be remembered with gratitude, spoken of with love, and carried forever in the hearts of those who were blessed by her love and presence. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary to be held at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
