Mr. Celestino (Chacho) Hinojosa passed away on Sunday August 2, 2020. Mr. Hinojosa was born in Ballinger, Texas the son of Celestino Hinojosa and Guillerma Benavides. His work and desire to take care of his family let him to enlisting in the Navy at the age of 21. He was a veteran during World War II. During his military years he served at many stations and on vessels in Davisville, RI and he went overseas to China and the Philippines before being discharged with honors in 1946. He was preceded in death by his children: Guillerma, Oscar and Rebecca Hinojosa and siblings: Apolonia, Julia, Guillermo and Teresa and grandson: Tony.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years: Connie; three children: Silvia Margarita, Reynaldo (wife, Alma) and Rene Hinojosa, and his beloved niece: Trinidad Barrera; grandchildren: Claudia, Elias, Shereen Marie, Terence, Oscar Jr., Connie Severa, Celeste, Agustin, Rey Jr., Jesus, Roman and Daniela; great-grandchildren: Mark and Ray Limon, Jonatha Oscar, Sasha Mrei, Niel Marcos, Lincoln Kelly, Wyoming, Ivan, Genesis and Gabriel; brothers and sisters: Jesus, Juana and Aurelia; numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping with social distancing orders, all necessary restrictions will be observed in order to protect the health and safety of those in attendance. Wear face coverings while inside building. Continue to practice social distancing while inside the funeral home chapel. We continue to ask that those at risk or those not feeling well stay home and reach out to the family through our obituary page.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Interment will follow at La Sara Cemetery. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
