Celia Morales, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at the age of 92 in McAllen, Texas. Born on May 28, 1933, in Villa De La Paz, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Celia’s life was a testament to family, faith, and devotion.
She grew up surrounded by the love of family before beginning her greatest journey alongside her beloved husband, Lucio Morales. Together, they built a life filled with love and welcomed five children: Francisca Saavedra (Modesto), Alicia Morales, Yolanda Cavazos, Jose Angel Morales, and Delia Rodriguez (Diego). Celia was preceded in death by her husband Lucio, her daughter Alicia, and her son Jose Angel, but their memory lived on in the stories she told and the love she carried in her heart.
Celia’s greatest joy was her family. She poured her heart into her children and grandchildren, always ready with an embrace, a warm meal, or words of comfort. She was the proud grandmother of Modesto Saavedra III (Berenice), Roberto Saavedra, Jessica Saavedra, Claudia Cavazos, Daniel Cavazos, David Cavazos, Aileen Rodriguez-Rios (Rodrigo), Giselle Rodriguez-Rios (Joel), and Monica Rodriguez. Her love stretched even further to her great-grandchildren: Modesto Saavedra IV, Nayeli Saavedra, Klarissa Saavedra, Fernando Negrete, Mateo Negrete, and Adalia Elise Rios.
Her home was always open, her table always full, and her garden always blooming. She found happiness in the simple things—tending to her plants, cooking for her family, and sharing stories that carried wisdom, laughter, and love. To those who knew her, Celia was a gentle presence whose kindness left an imprint on every life she touched.
In her final days, Celia spoke lovingly of her desire to once again be by Lucio’s side. She found peace in knowing their reunion was close. Before she left us, she also shared the words that summed up her heart: “A ustedes siempre los tengo en mi corazón.” This was not just a farewell, but her final blessing to her family—a reminder that her love will remain with them always. Her spirit will live on in every shared meal, every blooming flower, and every cherished memory of her gentle embrace.
