Concepcion Barreiro Jr. Obituary

McAllen ~ Concepcion (Conce) Barreiro Jr., a lifelong resident of McAllen , was called to be with our Lord on February 27, 2025. He was born to Concepcion (Sr.) and Maria Teresa Barreiro.

Conce was an alumnus of Sacred Heart Catholic School, later attending Travis Jr, and graduating from McAllen High School in 1975. He was a proud member of McAllen High Marching Band, Golf Team and later the McAllen Town Hall Band. After graduating from McAllen High School, he then attended business school at Pan American University.

He began his life time career of 40 years with H-E-B working several departments, managerial positions; he was a key employee for opening new stores across the valley. He always made himself available to work during hurricanes to protect his second home. He volunteered early in life with The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley informing produce and food distributors about the need for donation for our community and the H-E-B Feast of Sharing events.

Conce was preceded in death by his parents Concepcion Barreiro Sr. and Marie Teresa Barreiro, and one nephew Cesar Omar Barreiro Jr.

We are profoundly saddened by his death. He will be greatly missed by all of his family, friends and H-E-B Partners.

He is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart Lucia Reyes Barreiro. His children: Jason Barreiro (Alma), Sonia Longoria (Sam), Jesse Mendez (Sabrina), Cris Mendez (Eliseo). His fur babies that he loves very much Evie and Ollie. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Rey (Cassie), Andrea, Angela, Cristian, Carolina, Lilly; two great-grandchildren: Gabriel and Santiago. Conce is also survived by his siblings: Clariza (†Daniel) Moya, Cesar Omar and Karen Barreiro, Carlos Roel and Velma Barreiro, Cynthia and Felix Hernandez, and Drs. Christopher and Maribel Barreiro. In Laws: †Cristella Reyes, Juan (†Sandra) Reyes, Mary Lou Mora (†Ramon) Norma Reyes and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitations will be at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd., McAllen, Texas from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday, March 3rd, 2025 with a Holy Rosary to follow from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Mass in Conce’s honor will be on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 305 North 15th St. in McAllen, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Barreiro, Felix T. Hernandez, Phillip C. Hernandez, Jesse Mendez, Cris Mendez, and Christopher M. Barreiro II.

The family will be gathering after mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Annex Building west of the Main Church Office.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and are greatly appreciative to those who cared for him during his life time: Dr. Alejandro Gonzalez, Dr. Ofsman Quintana, Dr. Franklin Ponce, Dr. Ajithra Sathiyaraj, U.S. Renal in McAllen, McAllen Medical ICU Team; his nurses, Gracie, Edwardo and Marco.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
