Concepcion Vela Obituary

McAllen ~ Concepcion M. Vela, 73, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday the 2nd of June 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the legacy of a life marked by devotion, strength, and grace. Born on December 1, 1952, in Galveston, Texas, she carried with her throughout her life the warmth, resilience, and spirit that endeared her to all who knew her. She was a loving and courageous woman whose presence brought comfort, steadiness, and kindness to her family and friends.

Concepcion was the beloved daughter of the late Jose G. Mancha and the late Juanita Mancha. She was also preceded in death by her aunt, Hermelinda Morales.

On August 15, 1975, in McAllen, Texas, she married the love of her life, Rolando Vela Sr., and together they built a family rooted in faith, love, and mutual devotion. Their marriage was a lasting example of commitment and partnership, and she treasured the life they shared.

She is survived by her husband, Rolando Vela Sr.; her children, Rolando Vela Jr., Nancy V. Caballero, and Oscar Vela and his wife Elizabeth; her grandchildren, Laura Robledo and her husband Diego, Reena Vela-Martin and her husband Bobby, Jesus “Trey” Caballero III, Kaydence Caballero, Sebastian Caballero, Jacob Vela, and Kimberly Vela; and her great-grandchild, Antonio “AJ” Hinojosa. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Jose Mancha and his wife Eva, Teofilo Mancha (†Molly†), Maria Mata (†Ricardo†), Susie Rodriguez and her husband Armando, Jovita Treviño and her husband Armando, Graciela Martinez and her husband Ricardo, Gerardo Mancha, Javier Mancha and his husband Cecil, Noelia Rodriguez and her husband Roel, and Ramon Mancha and his wife Ana. Her family was the center of her life, and she took great pride in each generation that followed her.

Concepcion will be remembered for the love she gave so freely and the courage she showed throughout her life. She had a gentle heart, a strong spirit, and a way of making others feel welcomed and cared for. Her family will forever cherish the memories of her kindness, her wisdom, and the many moments of laughter and togetherness she helped create. Her life was a blessing to those around her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026, with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.

Concepcion M. Vela leaves behind a legacy of love, courage, and family devotion that will be honored and remembered always.
