Eduvina “Vivi” Felicitas Garza, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023, in Edinburg, Texas, just shy of her 88th birthday. She was born on October 25, 1935, in McAllen, Texas, where she lived a life marked by her love and faith in God and a deep compassion for others.
Raised by her loving parents, Eduardo Garza and Zoila Ramirez Garza, Vivi was the cherished sister of Omar (Adelina) Garza, and the late Evangelina (Guillermo) Cantu, Hector (Raquel) Garza, Zoila (Alfredo) Gomez, Eduardo (Marilyn) Garza, and Rogelio Garza.
In union with her late husband, SSGT George Ozuna, she was gifted with four children: Maricela Ozuna, George (Nancy) Ozuna Jr., Anastasia Ozuna, and Zoila Marie Ozuna. Her children were her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to nurturing them with love and instilling in them the values of faith in God and compassion for others.
Vivi was also blessed to be the adoring grandmother to Amanda Lee Haro, Celena Jean Richardson, Eleazar Nikolas De La Garza, Ivan Alexander De La Garza, and George Ozuna III.
Rightfully named, Felicitas meaning happiness, she indeed brought joy to those who knew her. Her selfless nature extended to all who knew her, and to strangers she crossed paths with. She was often ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She was known for her gentleness, treating all with kindness, comfort, and understanding. So much so that several saw her as a mother figure.
Eduvina enjoyed nurturing her plants with the same tenderness she extended to those around her. She had a way of making everything she touched flourish - from the flowers in her garden to the hearts of those she loved. Her mornings were often spent feeding her feathered friends, their songs a testament to the harmony she brought into their world.
As we celebrate the life of Eduvina Felicitas Garza, let us remember her as she was – an example of Jesus’ compassionate love, a woman who touched the lives of those around her with her gentleness and compassion, and a cultivator of beautiful plants and flowers and love for animals. In the garden of memory, Eduvina blooms forever.
So, as we say our earthly goodbyes, we do so with the assurance that Eduvina will meet up with our Savior in his soon coming.
