Efren Vargas Escamilla

San Juan ~ Efren Vargas Escamilla, 79, entered eternal rest on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. He was born on Friday, July 6, 1945 in Coalcoman, Michoacan, Mexico, the son of Epifanio Escamilla and Antonia Vargas. He is preceded in death by his parents and a son: Efren Escamilla, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife: Evangelina M. Escamilla; children: Maria Escamilla-Flores (Miguel Flores), Monica Escamilla, Veronica Perales (javier Perales), Evangelina Escamilla - Treviño (Carlos Treviño), Cecilia Treviño (Carlos J. Treviño); sister: Maria Martinez; grandchildren: Michael Perales, Marcus Perales, Alessandra Flores, Eva Treviño, Evan Treviño, Elia Treviño, Abby Treviño.

Visitations will be held from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 with a Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 6, 2025 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment to follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
