With profound respect and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Elena Diaz Ramos. Elena was born in the humble town of Runge, Texas and was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 16, 2023, in McAllen, Texas. She was a beacon of light, a pillar of strength, and a testament to enduring faith.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Antonio and Josefina Diaz, her loving husband, Victorino Arnoldo Ramos, her brothers, Jesus (Juanita) Diaz, Salvador (Minerva) Diaz and her sisters Isabel Torres and Adelita Rodriguez. Her legacy continues through her children, her son Victor (Alma) Ramos, her daughter Rosie (Don) Reed; her grandchildren Kelly (Hector) Chapa, Jennifer (Adrian) Arredondo; and her great-grandchildren Diego, Alec, Ava, and Luke, her dear sisters-in-law, Amanda Castellanos and Minerva Diaz. She was adored by all her nieces and nephews in both the Diaz & Ramos family and her extended Casas Family.
Elena was a woman of many passions. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life: she loved to be in her garden spending hours to make it beautiful and she spent her weekends in her early years dancing the night away. Music was always a part of her life and it lifted her soul. Her greatest love was for her family. She had a strong love for her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and always sent us on our way with her blessings. Her faith was unshakable, a guiding light throughout her life. She was a prayer warrior, steadfastly praying the rosary each night before bedtime. Elena lived this truth, her life a living demonstration of the power of prayer and the strength of faith. She taught us that love is boundless, that faith is essential, and that family is our greatest blessing.
As we bid farewell to Elena Diaz Ramos, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, an unwavering faith and a legacy that will live on forever. We honor her memory by living out the values she embodied: love, faith, and family.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Rio Grande Regional Hospital, their physicians and nurses that cared so wonderfully for Elena, her doctors, Dr. Enrique Griego and his clinicians and staff who went above and beyond to provide the best care, Dr. Leonardo Salcedo, and lastly, to Edinburg Regional Rehab Center for their care in her recovery. There are so many individuals that came across her path on the road to recovery and we are filled with so much gratitude. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
To our beloved Elena, we say, "You will be greatly missed, the matriarch of our family, La Reina de la Familia.” You loved your family with every ounce of your being, and you were the most faithful servant of Christ. Rest in Peace our beautiful Grandma Nena, we will carry your love with us and live life to the fullest, in your memory. May you enter God's kingdom and be greeted by all your loved ones that went before you in this life. May you forever dance in heaven with the love of your life, for no more are you separated but together, Juntos once again. Your memory will forever be a guiding light, a beacon of love and faith, a testament to the strength of family. Rest in perfect peace, until we meet again.
