Elida Mendoza Martinez

McAllen ~ Elida Mendoza Martinez, 89, entered eternal rest on Friday, November 12, 2021. She was born on Saturday, July 30, 1932 in McAllen to Manuel Mendoza and Virginia Garcia.
Elida is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Jesus Martinez; sons: Cesar Martinez, Jesus Martinez Jr, Armando Martinez; sister: Aida Duenas, Delia Robledo, Dalia McDonald, Ernestina Sanchez; brothers: Rene Mendoza, Daniel Mendoza, David Mendoza and Noe Mendoza.

Elida Martinez was a devoted wife to Josefat Martinez for 70+ years, mother to 9 sons, Chito, Armando, Ceaser, Homer, Roy, Eddie, Jamie, Roel and Fronzie. Grandmother to 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, sister to 3 brothers and 5 sisters, David, Rene, Noe, Dalia, Dora, Delia, Aida, Ernestina, and a friend to all. She adored and loved her family.  She was an honest and genuine loving person. Every conversation was a new story of her life experiences. When we think of Elida and her home, we remember the flowers, she loved her roses and when she use to live in California, she had in her front yard 9 beautiful rose bushes that bloomed year round for each of her sons. She enjoyed her daily coffee with her pan dulce, going to the stores and shopping for things she never needed, her trips to the salon to get her hair done, she loved taking trips to the cemetery to give flowers to her loved ones, she loved dancing in her kitchen, she also enjoyed a drink from time to time. She had her own day care for 20+ years and every child she cared for knew her as grandma and have kept in touch till her lasting days. She loved deeply and will be deeply missed by her family, friends and everyone that got to know her.

Elida is survived by her children: Homero Martinez, Eduardo Martinez, Rogelio Martinez, Roel Martinez, Javier Martinez, Alfonso Martinez; sister: Dora Peña; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitations will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday, November 22, 2021 at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be held 10:00 am  Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at El Buen Pastor Church. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery at 11:00 am.
