Eliseo Chapa Obituary

We come together today to honor and celebrate the life of Eliseo A. Chapa, affectionately known as "Chapa," who passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on May 31, 1943, in Kingsville, Texas, Chapa's early years laid the foundation for a life marked by joy, intelligence, and a spirited nature.

Chapa's journey led him to McAllen, Texas, where he spent his final moments surrounded by the love and warmth of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and wisdom, survived by his devoted wife of over 50 years, Nelda Margarita Chapa. While he was preceded in death by his father Atanasio Chapa, his mother Susana Chapa, his sister Otila Pena, and his nephew Merado Pena, the memories they shared continue to live on through the stories that Chapa so often and so fondly recounted.

Known for his sharp intellect and quick wit, Chapa's presence was a source of light and laughter for all who knew him. His passion for life was evident in his many interests, particularly his love for collecting and investing in cars. Not only was he an aficionado of classic automobiles, but he also took great pleasure in perfecting his own BBQ sauce, a testament to his culinary creativity and love for BBQ.

Chapa's enthusiasm wasn't limited to his hobbies; he was also a dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team. His spirited support for the team was a hallmark of his character, as he never wavered in his loyalty through every season.

Today, we remember Eliseo A. Chapa not just for the life he led but for the countless moments of joy he brought to others. His funny anecdotes, intelligent conversations, and spirited debates will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

As we say farewell to Chapa, we reflect on a life well-lived, a life filled with passion, purpose, and an abundance of love. May his memory continue to inspire us, and may the stories he shared be recounted with smiles and fondness for generations to come. Rest in peace, Eliseo A. Chapa, a man who truly made the world a brighter place.
