Elva Boyd Obituary

Elva L. Boyd, a beacon of love and resilience, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Prosper, Texas on February 13, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on August 27, 1941, in McAllen, Texas, Elva's life was marked by her unwavering faith, her passion for education, and her profound impact on all those she encountered.

A proud graduate of McAllen High School in 1959, Elva furthered her education at UT Pan American, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education and Speech Pathology. Elva dedicated her life to the noble profession of teaching, serving with distinction in McAllen ISD, Sharyland ISD, and the Region One Education Service Center. She later brought her talents to Wiggles Children's Rehabilitation, where her passion for helping children continued. Known as a strict yet caring disciplinarian, she left an indelible mark on the many students whose lives she touched. Her move to Prosper, Texas, in 2019, brought her closer to family, a testament to her deep-seated values of family and love.

Elva was the beloved daughter of the late Ezequiel F. Gonzalez and Consuelo Garcia Gonzalez. Elva's legacy is carried on by her children, Rigoberto (Sonny) Ozuna Jr., Daniel Omar Ozuna and his wife Cynthia, Deborah Denise Salinas and her husband Fidelio II, Ronnie Ozuna and his wife Annette, and their father Rigoberto Ozuna Sr., who will forever hold her memory dear. A doting grandmother, Elva's joy was multiplied through her grandchildren, David Ramirez, Marcos Ozuna, Priscilla Trevino, Jaydn Means, Zachary Ozuna, Trey Salinas, Ben Salinas, Jordan Ozuna, Hunter Climer, Roman Salinas, Ryan Ozuna, and Aryanna Ozuna. Her great- grandchildren, Ava Ramirez, Anjuli Trevino, Kash Means, Kensli Means, Ayla Trevino, and Haylynn Climer, added further delight to her life.

She cherished her siblings, Cecilia Santa Ana and her late husband Rodrigo, Sylvia Garza and her husband Billy, Robert Gonzalez and Martha Centeno, the late Albert Gonzalez and his late wife Evelyn, Irma Cantu and her husband Arturo, Lydia Arizmendi and her husband David, and Cynthia Gonzalez. Her extended family of numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces will miss her presence immensely.

Elva's interests reflected her zest for life and the joy she found in simple pleasures. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges with grace and determination. A woman who never met a stranger, Elva's ability to befriend and uplift those around her was unparalleled. She relished music, singing, and dancing, and her love for "Las maquinitas" at the Oklahoma casinos was well-known among her friends and family. Her favorite pastimes also included savoring a good meal while watching her beloved novelas, and sneaking out for a late-night ice cream cone, or "un conito," as she fondly called it.

Loving, faith-filled, and passionate, Elva lived a life that embodied the words of Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." In every aspect of her life, Elva did just that, pouring great love into the small, everyday moments that, in turn, became great in the hearts of those she touched. “The world changes from year to year, our lives from day to day, but the love and memory of you Mom, shall never pass away.” – unknown author.

Elva's departure from this world leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and passion that will continue to inspire her family, friends, and the countless lives she impacted. Her spirit, a guiding light of strength and warmth, will forever be cherished and remembered.
