McAllen ~ Elvira DeLeon, 84, entered eternal rest on Monday, September 27, 2021 at her home in McAllen. She was born on Monday, March 1, 1937 in Mexico, the daughter of Julian and Romualda Cavazos. Elvira moved from Reynosa, Tamaulipas to McAllen and had been a resident for over 45 years. She attended services at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and spending quality time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Delfino De Leon in 2009.
She is survived by her children: Carmen Cantu (Jose Maria Cantu), Adan De Leon (And De Leon), Idalia Mendiola (Aroldo Mendiola) Delfino De Leon (Diana De Leon); siblings: Raul Cavazos, Delia Torres, Salvador Cavazos, Paula Arellano, Alicia Torres and Eva Gonzalez; night grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday, September 30, 2021 with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. A Celebration of Life Mass will be said at 10:00 am Friday, October 1, 2021 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
