Emelia E. Rodriguez, in the true spirit of independence, cast off her earthly ties on May 5th, 2021, and joined her Lord and Savior in heaven. She was last seen joining in a vast heavenly celebration with her husband, her granddaughter, her sisters and parents, along with other cherished family and friends who got to the party first. She departed in the comfort of her home in McAllen, Texas, with her family in witness and support.
Native to Linares, NL, MX, she immigrated into the US with her husband as newlyweds. Living briefly in Natalia, TX they soon relocated to the valley and settled in Alamo, TX. The happy couple proceeded to create a home that would raise and nurture not only a family of five children, but would ultimately extent to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During her life-long residence in Alamo she would join San Pablo Methodist Church. With the Lord ever-present and guiding her in her life’s journey, she grew stronger in her faith in Jesus, and with Him on her side, weathered many a life’s challenges. In her community she reflected a devout and caring Christian woman, whose influence touched many. Her special angels were her grandchildren, whom she adored and felt especially privileged to be part of their mentoring and growing up. Following her move to McAllen in the mid-90's, she became a member of El Divino Rentedor. An active member for many years, she loved gathering with her friends in bible study and other sessions of prayer and fellowship.
Mrs. Rodriguez was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Porfirio Rodriguez; her sisters Olivia E de Quintanilla and Amira E de Saldaña; her brother Juventino Elizondo Murillo; and her beloved granddaughters Danielle Medina and Dr. Analyssa Medina Orjuela. She is survived by her daughter Dr. Bertha (Melecio) Medina of McAllen, TX, and her sons Dr. Sergio (Mary) Rodriguez of Rio Grande City, TX, Rogelio (Mindy) Rodriguez of San Antonio, Texas, Oscar (Becky) Rodriguez and Andrew (Cissy) Rodriguez, both residing in Austin, TX. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Dr. Raudel (Brittany) Rodriguez, Anastasia (O.J) Perez, Roy Gabriel Rodriguez, Diego Rodriguez, Drs. Melecio (Vanessa) Medina III, Drs. Ronnie (Sergio) Lozano, Dr. Aislen Medina, Nathan (Maria) Rodriguez, Kaitlyn(Jacob) Reder, Lauren Rodriguez and 7 great-grandchildren, along with her younger brother Rogelio Elizondo Murillo of Monterrey, NL, MX.
