Ernesto Garza Montes nació el 5 de septiembre de 1930 en China, Nuevo León, México y falleció el 22 de mayo de 2026 en Mercedes, Texas. Vivió una vida larga y plena marcada por la devoción a su familia, el trabajo duro y una profunda gratitud por las bendiciones sencillas de cada día.
Le precedieron en la muerte y ahora se reúne con su amada esposa, Julia Garza Garza, así como con sus padres, Manuel Garza e Isidra Montes, cuya memoria permaneció cerca de su corazón durante toda su vida. Ernesto vivió con fortaleza tranquila, fe constante y un espíritu generoso que tocó la vida de muchos que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo.
Era un hombre que amaba estar en el rancho, y ese amor reflejaba el tipo de vida que valoraba. Encontró propósito en el trabajo honesto, la fortaleza serena y los ritmos perdurables de la vida rural. Quienes lo conocieron recordarán su presencia firme, su espíritu cálido y la dignidad con que se condujo a lo largo de los años.
Le sobreviven sus hijos: Sarita Reyes (Onésimo Reyes), Elizabeth Cortés (Ignacio Cortez), Eustacio Garza (Dora Alicia Garza), Ernesto Garza, Jr. (Mirna Garza), Noemí Lozano (José Heraclio Lozano †), Alma Vázquez (Orlando Vázquez), David Garza (Julia Garza), Ruth Beth Rodríguez (Luis Carlos Rodríguez), Diana Martínez (Isaac Martínez) y Eduardo Garza (Sandra D. Garza); su hermano Santos Garza y sus hermanas Jovita Garza y Cristina Garza. Su legado continúa a través de 34 nietos, 51 bisnietos y 4 tataranietos, cada uno de los cuales le brindó alegría y orgullo. Atesoraba profundamente a su familia, y su vida se enriqueció con las generaciones que le siguieron. El amor que compartió con ellos permanecerá como una fuente duradera de consuelo y recuerdo.
La familia y amigos están invitados a reunirse para la velación el domingo 31 de mayo de 2026, de 11:00 a.m. a 9:00 p.m. en Rivera Funeral Home en McAllen, donde se rezará el Santo Rosario a las 6:30 p.m. Se llevará a cabo un servicio en la capilla el lunes 1 de junio de 2026 a las 10:00 a.m. en Rivera Funeral Home en McAllen. La inhumación seguirá a las 11:00 a.m. en Valley Memorial Gardens en Mission.

Ernesto Garza Montes, was born on September 5, 1930, in China, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and passed away on May 22, 2026, in Mercedes, Texas. He lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to family, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple blessings of each day.
He was preceded in death and is now reunited with his loving wife, Julia Garza Garza, as well as his parents, Manuel Garza and Isidra Montes, whose memory remained close to his heart throughout his life. Ernesto lived with quiet strength, steady faith, and a generous spirit that touched the lives of many who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was a man who loved being on the ranch, and that love reflected the kind of life he valued. He found purpose in honest labor, quiet strength, and the enduring rhythms of country living. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, his warm spirit, and the dignity with which he carried himself throughout his years.
Ernesto is survived by his children, Sarita Reyes (Onesimo Reyes), Elizabeth Cortes (Ignacio Cortez), Eustacio Garza (Dora Alicia Garza), Ernesto Garza, Jr. (Mirna Garza), Noemi Lozano (Jose Heraclio Lozano †), Alma Vasquez (Orlando Vasquez), David Garza (Julia Garza), Ruth Beth Rodriguez (Luis Carlos Rodriguez), Diana Martinez (Isaac Martinez), and Eduardo Garza (Sandra D. Garza); his brother, Santos Garza, and sisters, Jovita Garza, and Cristina Garza. His legacy continues through his 34 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him joy and pride. He treasured his family deeply, and his life was enriched by the generations that followed him. The love he shared with them will remain a lasting source of comfort and remembrance.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen, where the Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. A chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
Ernesto Garza Montes will be remembered with love and respect by all who were blessed to know him. His life was a testament to family, faith, and perseverance, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
