Haydee Herrera

Born, on June 16, 1952, Haydee Y. Herrera entered this world living life to its fullest. She will always be remembered for her fun loving spirit and selfless love to her family and friends. Haydee left our world suddenly for a higher calling on August 30, 2020; a calling she was ready for with open arms. 

At the young age of 68, she has left behind her sons, Alonzo Herrera III (Cynthia Trevino), Efren (Linda) Herrera, her only daughter, Lisa M. Herrera, and another son Teodoro Trejo IV (Selina Adame). She leaves behind 5 grandchildren; Azaria R. Herrera (Robert Navarro Jr), Elissa A. Herrera, Brittany A. Herrera, Efren A. Herrera, and Alonzo T. Herrera. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Zoe D. Herrera +. Haydee has also left behind her brand new great grandson, Amari J. Navarro.
She leaves behind many brothers and sisters, Rolando (Susie) Bocanegra, Jose Silvero (Seferina) Bocanegra, Ana M. Flores, Leticia Bocanegra (Donald) Ross, Miguel A. (Lori) Bocanegra, Mariano (Estella) Bocanegra, Blanca E. (Eloy) Garcia, Adan O. Bocanegra, Xochitl Bocanegra, Minerva (Servando) Alvarez, David (Patti) Bocanegra,  and Ana L. (Orlando) Palomares. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Hilario H. Bocanegra + and Andres Bocanegra+. She is preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Mariana Bocanegra.

In addition to her family, she also leaves behind a great deal of nieces and nephews, great friends.

Haydee loved her family dearly. Family gatherings always brought her true joy, especially around special occasions and holidays. She was always dancing and smiling. She loved when her grandkids would visit her and how her kids loved and watched over her.

Haydee was raised in McAllen, Tx., and lived in many other cities in the valley.  Her outgoing social love, consisted of going to see her favorite group; Los Chachos and being with her friends and dancing. She also loved going to the casinos with her comadre Tina Trevino, her son Alonzo and her daughter in law, Cynthia.

Haydee retired from the school district cafeteria some years ago and obtained many people who loved her and cared for her. She loved her job all 30 plus years and all the kids she came into contact with that she called them her kids or grandkids.

She dedicated a lot of time to caring, and loving her children and family. She spent her life loving to dance and make others feel great. It gives us peace knowing she made it to paradise with her Lord and Savior Jesus.

Services for Haydee Y. Herrera will be at Rivera Funeral Home Wednesday September 2, 2020.  Viewing will be open to immediate family (her children) from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm. and 5:30 pm to 8 pm for other family and friends. The recital of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6:30 PM. Due to the unfortunate Covid situation, we ask that you stay in very small, private groups and that you respect the times allowed.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping with social distancing orders, all necessary restrictions will be observed in order to protect the health and safety of those in attendance. Wear face coverings while inside building. Continue to practice social distancing while inside the funeral home chapel. We continue to ask that those at risk or those not feeling well stay home and reach out to the family through our obituary page.
