Herminia "Minnie" Ortega Rojas,87, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at her McAllen home surrounded by her family. Herminia was born on April 25, 1931 in McAllen, Texas to Margarito and Paula (Hinojosa) Ortega. Herminia was a long time resident of Modesto, California and recently moved back to McAllen in 2016. Minnie, as she was lovingly known by her family and friends, enjoyed gardening, listening to country music,dancing at the Forever Young Senior center in Modesto,CA. and telling funny stories about all her nieces and nephews. Minnie truly enjoyed her life to its fullest.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jose Rojas, her sister Felicitas Baez, her brothers Jesus Ortega and Francisco Ortega.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings; Maria Isabel Ortega and Guadalupe Ortega both of McAllen, Manuel Ortega of Amarillo, also Sylvia Ortega Gonzalez of Sugar Land, Texas; extended nieces and nephews from Texas and California.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Rivera Funeral Home,1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen from 5:00 to 9:00 PM with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Rivera Funeral Home with Monsignor Juan Nicolau officiating. Burial will follow to La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen.
