Honorina Escalante

Mission ~ Honorina Escalante, 59, entered eternal sleep Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. She was born Tuesday, February 27, 1962 in Hidalgo, Mexico to Mauro and Victoria (Melo) Escalante. Honorina was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was extremely involved in her church and loved hosting her Thursday group meeting, where she would invite her family and friends. After every meeting she would then invite them to join her for dinner. She also enjoyed attending her women's church meetings.  Honorina was always helping everyone who needed a helping hand. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, enjoyed going fishing with her husband on the weekends, loved taking care of her plants and flowers and she was great with her pets. Honorina truly lived life to its fullest. She was preceded in death by her father.

Honorina is survived by her husband: Demetrio Cruz; her children: Belinda Garcia, Froylan Garcia, and Zury Gonzalez; four grandchildren: Samantha Ramirez, Ryan Ramirez, Aaron Zinibi, and Adam Zinibi; her mother: Victoria Escalante.

Visitation will be Monday, May 17, 2021 at Rivera Funeral Home, 1813 N. Conway Ave. in Mission from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a service to begin at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the funeral home at 12:30 PM with interment to follow at Santa Fe Celestial Garden Cemetery in Mission.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of Mission. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping with social distancing orders, all necessary restrictions will be observed in order to protect the health and safety of those in attendance. Wear face coverings while inside building. Continue to practice social distancing while inside the funeral home chapel. We continue to ask that those at risk or those not feeling well stay home and reach out to the family through our obituary page.

Mission ~ Honorina Escalante, de 59 años, entró en el sueño eterno el jueves 13 de mayo de 2021 en el Doctors Hospital at Renaissance en Edinburg. Nació el el martes 27 de febrero de 1962 en Hidalgo, México hija de Mauro y Victoria (Melo) Escalante. Honorina era una amada esposa, madre, abuela, hija, hermana, tía y amiga. Estaba extremadamente activa en su iglesia, donde le encantaba ser la anfitriona de su reunión de grupo de los jueves, donde invitaba a su familia y amigos. Después de cada reunión, los invitaba a cenar con ella. También disfrutaba asistir a las reuniones de la iglesia de mujeres. Honorina siempre estaba ayudando a todos los que necesitaban una mano. Disfrutaba pasar tiempo con sus nietos, disfrutaba ir a pescar con su esposo los fines de semana, le encantaba cuidar sus plantas y flores y era genial con sus mascotas. Honorina realmente vivió la vida al máximo. Su padre la precedió en la muerte.

A Honorina le sobrevive su marido: Demetrio Cruz; sus hijos: Belinda García, Froylan García, y Zury González; cuatro nietos: Samantha Ramirez, Ryan Ramirez, Aaron Zinibi y Adam Zinibi; su madre: Victoria Escalante.

El velorio será el lunes 17 de mayo de 2021 en Rivera Funeral Home, 1813 N Conway en Mission de 3:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m. y el servicio comenzará a las 7:00 p.m. Los servicios funerarios serán el martes 18 de mayo de 2021 en la funeraria a las 12:30 p.m. y el entierro seguirá en el Santa Fe  Celestia Gardens Cemetery en Mission, Texas. Los arreglos funerarios están a cargo de Rivera Funeral Home of Mission.
