Ida L. Gomez

McAllen - Ida L. Gomez, 82, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Comfort House, McAllen. Ida was born March 12, 1934 in San Isidro, Texas to Reyes Raul and Amada Lopez. She was married to Jose Luis Gomez on November 25, 1967 and he preceded her in death on November 4, 2012. They were married for 45 years.

Ida received a high school degree from San Isidro High School and went on to work at J.C. Penny of McAllen and then worked as a Teacher's Aide and Substitute Teacher for the McAllen Independent School District for many years.

She is survived by her children and their spousesIž Magda (Tom) Hudson, Patricia Gomez, Yanet (Jarrett) Byrom and Jose Luis, Jr. "Joey" (Alyson) Gomez. She also leaves 5 grandchildren, Nicolas Ignacio Ramirez, Samuel Dean Gomez, Charles Reyes Gomez, MaxEmillio Vance Byrom, and AidanLuis Eduardo Byrom, 3 sisters, Alicia Saenz, Andrea Amada Morales and Zulema L. Medrano, 2 bothers, Reyes Raul Lopez III, Reyes Romeo Lopez and Ruben Lopez, brother (Deceased).

Ida was a courageous, determined woman who was a great daughter, sister, wife and mother. Her long journey with Parkinson's was incredible and the Gomez family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for all the love, care and support to all those who helped Ida along the path.

Visitation with open casket will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and then continue to 9:00 pm Tuesday, June 7, 2016 with a rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission. Funeral arrangements are pending and have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen www.riverafuneralhomes.net
