Mrs. Inez C. Alaniz, age 95, entered eternal rest on August 2, 2026 in McAllen, Texas. She was born on January 1, 1931, in Edinburg, Texas, to the late Enrique and Francisca Ovalle.
Inez devoted her life to her family and home as a loving homemaker. She was a woman of quiet strength, unwavering love, and deep devotion whose greatest joy came from caring for those she loved. Her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerardo Alaniz; her parents, Enrique and Francisca Ovalle; her siblings, Natividad Ovalle, Julio Ovalle, Jose Ovalle, and Guadalupe Ordaz; and her grandson, Max Moreno.
Left to cherish her precious memory are her children, Elva (Mario) Servantes, Gerardo (Santa) Alaniz, Jr., Rosalba (Luis) Moreno, Rodolfo (JoAnn) Alaniz, Ruben (Maribel) Alaniz, Robert (Isabel) Alaniz, and Rachel (James) Hodge. She is also survived by her siblings, Gregorio Ovalle, Enrique Ovalle, Imelda Serrano, and Maggie Salazar.
Inez’s legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Stacie Farias, Stephanie Arakian, Jennifer Lopez, Alex Moreno, Magda Moreno, Aaron Alaniz, Troy Perales, Zenaida Alaniz, Gabriela Alaniz, Allison Alaniz, and Steven Hodge, as well as 20 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation on Sunday, August 9, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen. Celebration of Life Mass will held at 12:00 pm on Monday, August 10, 2026 at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Alton. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission.
Though she will be deeply missed, Inez leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, compassion, and family that will continue to inspire generations to come. May she rest in everlasting peace.
