Irene Gonzalez

Mission ~ Irene Gonzalez, 84, passed away on Tuesday May 7, 2024 at McAllen Medical Center. She was born on Wednesday June 28, 1939 in McAllen, Texas, the daughter of Luis Villanueva and Francisca Saenz. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fred Avendaño and granddaughter, Melody Ybarra. 

She is survived by her children: Mario Gonzalez, Marcy Gonzalez, Marty Gonzalez, Marissa Alvarez and Mark Villanueva; sister, Evangelina Gutierrez; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.                             

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday, May 13, 2024 with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home 1901 Pecan Blvd., McAllen. Celebration of Life Mass will be said at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 306 S. 15th St., McAllen. Interment will follow at 11:00 am at La Piedad Cemetery, 1801 Wichita Ave., McAllen. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
