Pharr ~ Irma Dora Alaniz, known lovingly as Dora by all who knew her, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023, in Pharr, Tx. Born on September 3, 1934, in Weslaco, Tx, to Francisca and Alejos Sanchez Sr., Dora was a beautiful beacon of love, generosity, and faith that shone brightly throughout her 89 years.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Arcadio Alaniz Sr., her son Arcadio Alaniz Jr., daughter Irma Morales, parents Francisca and Alejos Sanchez Sr., and her brother Noe Cruz. Though their loss deeply affected her, Dora persisted with unwavering faith and strength, ever the matriarch of her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Rosalinda De La Garza (Gerardo), Alberto Alaniz (San Juanita), Irasema Gonzalez (Armando), and daughter in-law Viola Alaniz. Dora's commitment to her family was evident in the way she loved and cared for each of her children. She found immense joy in their growth and successes, often attributing their accomplishments as her greatest pride.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday, October 31, 2023 with a Talk at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Last gathering will be from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 11 am at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
Dora is also survived by her siblings Soledad Villanueva, Victoria Morales, Rosalva Erickson, Silvia Mahoney, Alejos Sanchez Jr., and Martha Espinoza. As the sister of such a large and loving family, Dora was known for her kindness, generosity, and sincere devotion to each of her siblings, and she will be deeply missed by them.
The love Dora had for her family extended beyond her children and siblings, as evidenced by the close relationships she maintained with her 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Dora's legacy will live on in each of them, her unwavering love and spirit forever remembered in their hearts.
Dora was a woman strongly devoted to Jehovah for 48 years. She found solace and strength in her faith. Her generous spirit and loving nature were bright lights, and she instilled her unwavering faith in all those she encountered.
Dora’s love for her family was only paralleled by the joy she found in spending time with them. During casual family gatherings, her presence was always the heart of each event. Her love for her family was a testament to her character, and her memory will be a treasure in the hearts of all who knew her.
In remembering Dora, we remember a woman of faith whose love knew no bounds. Her generous heart and loving spirit touched all those she encountered, leaving a mark that will never be forgotten. Dora's life, though marked by loss and sorrow, was a testament to the strength of faith, the warmth of love, and the gift of generosity. Her legacy of love and devotion will be carried forward by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. May her soul rest in peace, knowing that her life was a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
