McAllen ~ Irma Y. Rios, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Born on Wednesday, November 20, 1946, in McAllen the daughter of Santiago Ybanez and Eberta Peña. Irma's life was a testament to the power of courage and the warmth of a caring heart. Her spirit, characterized by her loving nature, left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Irma leaves a legacy with her six children: Rafaela Rios, Berta Rios, Roberto Rios Jr., Irma Rios, Criselda Rios, and Jesse Rios; her sister, Maria Ybanez. Irma's legacy continued with the joy of 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense happiness and pride to Irma's life.
Friends and family Irma Y. Rios can join and celebrate her remarkable life with visitation from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd., McAllen with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held in her honor at 11:00 am on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 306 S. 15th St., McAllen where Irma's faith and spirit will be remembered and cherished. Her final resting place will be at La Piedad Cemetery, 1813 Wichita Ave., McAllen following the mass, where she will be laid to rest during a committal service at 12:00 pm.
Irma Y. Rios's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of compassion, selflessness, and bravery. Her name will be uttered with reverence and her memory cherished with every story shared and every moment of kindness given in her honor.
