McAllen - Jesus "Chuy" Ortega, 80, died Tuesday February 2, 2016 at home surrounded by family. Jesus was born May 12, 1935 to Ysidro Ortegaa€ and Josefina Hernandez Ortegaa€ . He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Isabel Ortega on August 2, 2012.
He is survived by four sons: Romeo (San Juanita), Ormar (Leticia), Homero (Olga) and Jesus Jr. (Maricela); five daughters: Rosalinda (Armando) Villarreal, Olga Lydia Luevanos, Sylvia Ortega, Veronica (Eden) Ramos and Orfelinda Ortega (Moses); two sisters: Victoria Rivera and Maria de la Luz Mata; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Jesus was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was dedicated to his Catholic Faith. He enjoyed reading his bible, crafts, cooking, music and family gatherings.
We want to give thanks to Dr. L. Bay, Dr. A. Amador and Paxvilla Hospice for caring for our father and also to Father Alfonso Guevara of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen.
Visitation will be from 1 pm to 9 pm Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 and 1 pm to 9 pm Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 with a rosary at 7 pm at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. Funeral Mass will be said at 10 am Friday, February 5, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in McAllen. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen. Funeral arrangements are with Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. www.riverafuneralhomes.net
