Joel Cantu

Mission ~ Joel Cantu, 72, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at McAllen Medical Center. He was born on Wednesday, July 11, 1951 in Los Fresnos. He is preceded in death by his parents: Pedro and Teresa Cantu and his brother, Roy Cantu.

Jse is survived by his wife: Selma Cantu; his children: Ma. Simona McMillan, Joel Cantu, Jr., Orlando (Flor) Cantu and Daniel Cantu; his brothers: Hector (Maria) Cantu, Arturo (De) Cantu and Oscar (Mineva) Cantu; night grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed by all. Joel enjoyed being around his family and friends listening to music and barbecuing then Sunday was all about football. 

Visitations will be held from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023 with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home, 1813 N. Conway Ave. in Mission. Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at at Abram City Cemetery. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home.
