Jose Gomez Obituary

1947 – 2026
Jose Luis Gomez, known affectionately as "Pepe" to his family and friends, entered into eternal
rest at the age of 78 on April 27, 2026, in McAllen, Texas. He passed away peacefully,
surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.

A true adventurer at heart, Pepe spent decades embracing the freedom of the open road as a
professional truck driver. While his career took him across countless miles, his heart was always
anchored firmly at home. He was the heartbeat of the Gomez family—a man of boundless
strength whose life was a masterclass in hard work, integrity, and unconditional love.

To know Pepe was to know sunshine. He possessed a rare, infectious energy and a smile that
could light up the dimmest room. Whether he was offering a helping hand to a neighbor or
sharing a story with a friend, his kindness was quiet but his impact was loud. He lived by a
simple but beautiful creed: family comes first. He was the glue that kept everyone together,
ensuring that his loved ones remained a close-knit circle of support and joy.

Retirement brought Pepe his most cherished "assignments"—peaceful afternoons on the water
fishing with his grandchildren. Those quiet moments, watching the next generation cast their
lines, were his greatest pride and brought him immense happiness.

His Lasting Legacy

Pepe’s vibrant spirit lives on through his beloved wife of 53 beautiful years, Elida Gomez, who
was the light of his life. His legacy of love continues through his children: Mildred Montemayor,
Angelica Gomez, Estela Cardenas, Jose Luis Gomez, George Alberto Gomez, and Edgar Gomez.

He is also celebrated by his three sisters and one brother, along with 10 grandchildren and 2
great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of his laughter and his lessons in their hearts.

A Heavenly Reunion

Pepe has been reunited in joy with those who went before him: his parents, Pedro and Teresa
Gomez; his sister, Guillermina Chavez; and his grandparents, Francisco Gutierrez and Felipa
Rodriguez. While he has reached his final destination, the road he paved with love will guide his
family for generations to come.

1947 – 2026

generaciones.
