Jovita E. Villarreal, a beacon of love and wisdom, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, at the age of 84 in Alamo, Texas. Born on February 16, 1942, in Rio Grande City, Texas, Jovita lived a life marked by passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
The cherished daughter of the late Reymundo Escamilla Sr. and the late Aida Peña Escamilla, Jovita was a sister to Anita Villarreal, Euvaldo Escamilla, Sr., and Reymundo Escamilla, Jr. Her parents and siblings instilled in her the values of love and family, which she embraced throughout her life.
Jovita's heart was devoted to her beloved husband, Sixto Villarreal Sr., who predeceased her. Together, they built a legacy of love that lives on through their children: San Juanita Villarreal Aguilar (Alex), Belinda Villarreal Caballero (Albert), Esmeralda Villarreal Gutierrez (Alex), and Sixto Villarreal Jr. Jovita’s life was further enriched by her 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
A wise matriarch, Jovita's guidance and counsel were sought by many. Her wisdom was a guiding light not only to her family but also to those within her community who were touched by her kindness and warmth. Jovita's passion for life was evident in the way she nurtured her relationships and celebrated each moment with grace.
