Mission, Texas - Mr. Juan E. Hernandez, 56, entered eternal sleep surrounded by his family Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Amara Hospice Facility in Edinburg. "Johnny" as he was lovingly called by his family and friends was born August 19, 1964 in Edinburg, Texas to Pedro Hernandez and Martina (Moreno) Hernandez. Johnny was raised in Edinburg where he attended Edinburg Schools having graduated from Edinburg High Bobcats class of 1984. He currently was a resident of Mission. Johnny was a big time fanatic of the Dallas Cowboys, win or lose, a true fan to the end. Johnny loved to sing karaoke, loved to dance, enjoyed his family at gatherings. He was very playful with everyone. Truly Johnny lived life to its fullest.
He was preceded in death by his father; his brother: Efrain and his sister: Herlinda Perez; his brothers-in-law: Elpidio Jr. and Jesus Alonzo.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved family; wife: Elizabeth Alonzo; children: Juan A. Hernandez, Adrian Hernandez, and Ashley Nicole Hernandez; mother: Martina Hernandez; siblings: Aurelio and (Edna) Hernandez, Pedro Jr. and (Amanda) Hernandez, Margarita and (Mingo) Hernandez, Josefa and (Silvino) Hernandez, Mario and (Gloria) Hernandez, Jose Luis and (Martha) Hernandez, Reina Estrada, Graciela Hernandez, Ramiro and (Cristina) Hernandez; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Alfredo Perez, Juan and (Margarita) Alonzo, Ricarda Alonzo, Sylvia Knight, Gloria Alonzo, Pedro and (Aida) Alonzo, Rosalinda Alonzo, Alfredo Alonzo, Josefina Alonzo, Martin Alonzo, Anita and (Javier DeLeon) Alonzo.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the recital of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM at Rivera Funeral Home, 1813 N. Conway in Mission. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, June 14, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at San Jose Catholic Cemetery in Mission. Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of Mission.
